About the Author

Dear Readers,

My name is Olivia Vidueira, and I am a freshman at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. I am majoring in Media Communications studies and I am seeking a double major in Spanish. I love to write and research, and I am a very creative person. I love the arts of all kinds, which is why I have always been curious about the performing arts and the circus. When I arrived at FSU and realized our campus had a circus, I just needed to know more. For most of my life, I have been a dancer, focusing mostly on ballet. I also love visual arts; I paint and sketch a lot. The arts are a big part of my life, and I love to explore other mediums of the arts with which I am less familiar. When I danced ballet, I was a part of

many professional-level performances, including Peter and the Wolf, Sleeping Beauty, and the Nutcracker. I loved the feeling of being onstage. I soon found that many members of the circus share that same thrill, such as Rachel Jones, my interviewee. When she shared this with me, I could instantly relate. I chose the circus for my blog because I was simply curious about how it worked, and how the students within it contributed to the performances.  My research soon answered all of my pressing questions. I was able to find out a lot about the circus in my time researching, and I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to get to know the FSU Flying High Circus.
